Time For Conversation

Staring across my cluttered desk, I spotted a elderly gentleman headed toward my office.  He meandered across the breezeway to my door. Without knocking, the door slid open and his head poked inside.  He looked like the kind of guy that has been retired awhile and has plenty of time on his hands.  This is the kiss […]

My goal for you, dear readers, is to take a close look at your life and notice one person today that you take for granted.  Then tell them how much you appreciate them. What are you waiting for? Now is a good time… We will wait until you get back to finish this story… Surely […]

New Year, New You

Here’s to a new year, a new you and a new me! I spent a lot of time thinking since the beginning of 2015 about what I wanted to change. Of course, there are all the usual suspects such as “being a better guy“, “losing some weight“, “return to running” (pending a stupid little knee […]

It’s Christmas!

It’s Christmas Time! Every year things always seem to get sentimental. I remember back to the days as a kid, living in Johnson, Arkansas. My family were big believers in the “Christmas Experience”. The tree. Grandpa and/or Dad dressing up as Santa. Presents, big or small. Parents hiding Christmas presents. Us kids trying to find […]

Enoch’s Stomp

About a year ago, we set out on a mission to check out . We went through a few different ones during our short day trips from Shreveport. But here’s the one that we absolutely fell in love with. Enoch’s Stomp in Harleton, TX. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon… We ordered a cheese […]

Blog Therapy

You know, it’s been awhile since I’ve written for my blog. It is quite a shame, really. I find that writing is very therapeutic for me. I really hope that most of you who choose to read it find some benefit, but I do it more for my own well-being. I redesigned the site a […]

Making You Happy

Making you happy isn’t necessarily making me happy…

Shifting Gears

Something happened in my life that pulled me up by the collar, got me off my knees, backhanded me across the face and woke me up from the fog I've been living in. To say these things are personal are an understatement. Expect zero details. But my epiphany is profound. 1) Happiness comes within first. […]

Penalty! Excessive Weight Loss Celebration

This post is strictly for those who’ve lost (weight) and loved (food) again. I’ve been pretty proud of myself for losing 100+ pounds. It was a tremendous goal and a lot of work to get there. I relaxed. I celebrated. I put pounds back on. Thirty to be exact. Why did I do that? I […]

Bringing The Right People To The Party

Bringing Friends To The Party Creating A Think Tank Recently I have been approached by some organizations to start some community projects. I am honored and excited about all of them! I quickly realized that the daunting “to-do” list involved with each project is massive and overwhelming. Almost enough to make you want to stop. […]

Tackle The Sky

Finding something new to challenge yourself is an exciting task.

When you start to believe that you can really do anything you set your mind to, the sky is the limit!

How to “tackle the sky” is a challenge for me.

Just Five Minutes & Just For Men

As I pulled into the lot, I saw this extremely gaunt elderly man walking from the parking lot of the Chinese restaurant next door. He was carrying a backpack and three or four brightly colored t-shirts in his left hand.

He was making a bee line toward the CVS entrance.

My first thought was, “Crap. He’s going to ask for money or try to sell me something”.
