The premise is this:
“Our thoughts and feelings create our existence“
Essentially if you think negatively, or feel negatively, you are likely to “reap” more of the same.
On the flip side of that coin, if your are happy and think happy thoughts, you are going to obtain more happiness.
I was perplexed by this concept at first.
I mean, I’ve always read “positive thinking” books and subscribed to the idea that I should be a positive person.
But painting my future with these thoughts and feelings? I wasn’t so sure…
Then I started looking into my past for evidence of my happy times and good times:
The birth of my kids, marrying my best friend, fun trips, exciting career changes. They always were represented with a positive thought and some excitement.
The years I fought depression, alcohol abuse, nicotine use and obesity. They were a product of a negative mindset and a bad emotional state toward myself.
I started to see the pattern.
Let’s look at the way you start the day.
The perfect example is when you start your day and you jam your pinky toe into the corner of your dresser. That’ll set the mood for your morning. More than likely that negative vibe continues throughout your day which, in turn, creates more bad vibes and unhappy experiences, right? Like spilling your coffee or just being an overall jackass.
But lets say you start your day with a “thankful” mentality and feeling happy with your life. That mood will perpetuate itself throughout your day. If you keep your eyes open, you’ll see and feel the difference.
It all begins with a choice to choose your thoughts and feelings wisely, and find a way to turn the bad ones around before more of it comes your way.
It comes down to a decision:
How will you think and feel today?
The cool part is, you do get to choose…
