Doing The Right Thing

I had a conversation with a friend the other morning about the successes (and short comings) of a recent running event I helped put together.

If you read my last post, I talked about my focus being a little skewed toward money. Basically using it as a benchmark of my performance.

I guess it is harder to change than I thought.

But if you spend 20+ years behaving in that way, I guess it’s going to take some time.

My friend’s words rang loud as he spoke them:

“The exposure was good (from a business perspective), but the lives you touch mean more. Sometimes knowing your are doing the right thing is what matters.”

Now I did paraphrase that a bit. It was more of what I heard and was thinking at the same time.

But the message is true.

My deep down belief is that you reap what you sow.

If you do the right thing by people, help lift them up and leave them better than you found them, everything else will take care of itself.

Even the money…
